From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 23, 1985:

• An unpleasant preview of winter greeted morning drivers in the area, as light drizzle froze overnight and provided some slick areas on the roads. A few minor accidents resulted, mostly in the southern area of Douglas County around Baldwin, where road conditions were the worst.
• The Journal-World unveiled a mini-museum of newspaper and printing hardware at their main office. The rectangular assemblage, measuring 5 1/2 by 23 feet and weighing over a ton, included thousands of pieces of old metal and wood type as well as printing tools and old half-tone picture plates. The display had been created by Hallmark artist Robert Schneeberg, who had spent some eight weeks on its assembly.
• The executive committee of the Center for Research Inc. (CRINC) at Kansas University had recently considered a request from university governance that CRINC change its policy on classified research. Current KU policy was that research product and process would be classified for one year; the proposal would have allowed temporary classification for three years.
