Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence at East Hights set for open house
Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence is inviting the public into its second home tonight, providing a chance to see what the organization is getting — and providing — as part of a $1-a-year lease.
An open house will be conducted from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of East Heights, 1430 Haskell Ave.
The building is the former East Heights School, which remains owned by the Lawrence school district. The club is leasing the property this year for $1, an arrangement that runs through the end of June.
The club uses the East Heights building for its main operations, relocated from the longtime club site at 1520 Haskell Ave., which is now used as a teen center.
