Lawrence Volunteer Opportunities: Jingle Bell Run needs help before, during event

The Kansas Arthritis Foundation is looking for volunteers to help at their second annual Jingle Bell Run on Sunday, Dec. 12, in downtown Lawrence. There will be a certified 5K course to run as well as Family Fun Run/Stroll of 1 mile, both starting from the Community Building at 115 W. 11th St. Volunteers are needed to help with the preparation of the event and to help along the running route. Immediate needs

• The Lawrence Arts Center is in need of volunteers to help paint two of its walls the week of Nov. 29. LAC, 940 N.H., changes its color scheme regularly and it’s time to switch it up. Contact Pat Russell at 785-843-2787 or patrussell@lawrenceartscenter.org

• The Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging is looking for a volunteer who could help an elderly client in Eudora pack up some belongings and reorganize her house a bit. • The Salvation Army is looking for holiday bell ringers. Volunteers are needed from Friday through Dec. 24 for a minimum of two-hour shifts. Bell ringing is done from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. For more information, contact Liz Coleman at 785-843-4188.

• LINK is in need of volunteers to help prepare, deliver, and serve meals for its Thanksgiving Day Meal at First Christian Church, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 25.
