How to help: Fair trade market needs holiday help

Lawrence Fair Trade needs volunteers for its 19th annual Fair Trade Holiday Market. The market sells Fair Trade handicrafts and products that benefit artisan cooperatives in the poorest parts of the world. Last year, more than $23,000 of handicrafts were sold on behalf of disadvantaged artisans. Volunteers are needed to help “check out” customers throughout the market and will also be needed to help pack up leftover products once the market has ended. Training sessions will be on Nov. 22 or 23, and several dates are available to volunteer at the market; contact Alicia Erickson at Alicia@twohandsworldshop.com for more information.

• The Youth Volunteer Corps at the Roger Hill Volunteer Center is looking for young people, ages 11-18, to serve the Lawrence community through volunteerism.
