Oklahoma City Kansas softball freshman Mariah Montgomery was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team on Friday.
The league’s coaches, who couldn’t choose their own players, voted on the teams.
Montgomery, a Ralston, Neb. native, started all 55 games this season and led the Jayhawks with a .294 batting average during conference play. Over the last 14 games, the shortstop hit .395 and had a .480 on base percentage.
The Big 12 named Texas’ Connie Clark Coach of the Year. Oklahoma senior Amber Flores earned Player of the Year honors.
