Band director hired
Paul W. Popiel has been hired as Kansas University’s new director of bands.
Popiel had been working as assistant director of bands at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, and has also worked at Oklahoma State University.
He holds degrees from Truman State University, the University of Notre Dame and Michigan State University.
Popiel replaces Scott Weiss, who has been named the director of bands at the University of South Carolina.
Popiel will begin his new job in August.
