Lawmakers push for health care challenge

? A Kansas House committee has endorsed a resolution directing Attorney General Steve Six to challenge the new federal health care law.

The Appropriations Committee’s voice vote Friday forwards the measure to the House for debate next week.

The resolution directs Six to file suit himself or join a lawsuit challenging the law filed by attorneys general in other state.

Under Kansas law, only one chamber must pass such a resolution to direct the attorney general to challenge the constitutionality of a state or federal statute.
