KU names director of new program in Salina

? A Salina-based oncologist has been named to lead the University of Kansas School of Medicine’s expansion program in Salina.

Dr. William Cathcart-Rake will head what is to become a four-year medical school in Salina. The program will target students interested in practicing in rural Kansas after graduation.

The university still has to obtain accreditation and funding for the program. But it hopes to have its first class by 2012.
