Lawrence woman arrested for child sex charges

A 22-year-old Lawrence woman was charged Tuesday for sex crimes against a 14-year-old girl.

The woman was charged with two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, according to prosecutors.

Police arrested the woman at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Gaslight Village mobile home community, 1900 W. 31st St., according to jail records.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Bill Cory said the crimes occurred sometime in January in the southeast portion of Lawrence. The victim and suspect are acquaintances.

The suspect is being held in Douglas County Jail on $30,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court March 23. It is Journal-World policy not to name suspects in sex crimes unless they have been convicted.
