Two Fort Riley brigades heading home after serving in Iraq

? Two infantry battalions are heading home to Fort Riley next week from a year of service in Iraq.

The units are from the 1st Infantry Division’s 4th Brigade. They’ll arrive in groups over several days.

Army officials don’t release exact arrival times for security reasons and because flights from the Middle East are unpredictable.

Returning are the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry and the 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion.

The soldiers have been deployed in Samara and Tuz. They’ve been advising and assisting the Iraqi army and returning bases to the Iraqi government as U.S. forces prepare to reduce their presence.
