Dad workshops set for this week

Hey dads! There are free workshops this week to help you with the challenges of fatherhood:

• “Daddy & Me Playgroup” and “Dad’s Group” will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority, 1600 Haskell Ave. No. 149.

The workshops are for expectant dads, adoptive dads, grandfathers, or any male caregiver of a child under age 5.

Each session is 45 minutes, starting with “Daddy & Me Playgroup.”

• “Conscious Fathering” will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Community Health Facility, 200 Maine.

The course is for expectant dads, adoptive dads, grandfathers or any male caregiver of a child under age 1.

It will address baby basics such as what to do when they cry, how do you know when they are hungry, and how much rest does a baby need.

Participants will get a gift card, meal, and Bernie Dorsey’s “Guide to Expectant Fathers.”

“Conscious Fathering” also will be offered July 8, July 22, Aug. 12, and Sept. 9.

Free child care is provided during all of the workshops.
