Members of Boy Scout Troop 64 of Eudora spent June 20-26 at Camp Naish near Bonner Springs working on merit badges, swimming and enjoying the outdoors. Senior patrol leader, Connor Bradley, was joined by Scouts, Nathan Gentleman, Patrick Bradley, Andrew Rome, Nathan Bradley, Dakota Coble and Simon Elwell. Scouters accompanying the troop were Damon Bradley and Glenn Jackson, joined by Jerry Criqui on Friday and Saturday. On Friday night, troop members, friends and families brought pizza and enjoyed campfire activities. Troop 64, chartered to the Eudora Lions Club, meets at 7 p.m. on Mondays at Nottingham Community Center.

On May 29, Boy Scout Troop 60, chartered to First Baptist Church in Lawrence, placed flags on the graves of Civil War soldiers in Oak Hill Cemetery. Later they attended the Bromelsick ceremony hosted by Troop 52. In the afternoon, Troop 60 did a flag retirement at the VFW to honor the veterans. Those participating were Matt and Andy Dominquez, Chris Geiss, Nick Maloun, Steven Ozaki, Jake Keary, Caelan Golledge, Tyler and Sam Kendrick, Luke Hinkle, Will Schrader, Austin Lemmons, Michael Pate and Darren Rawlings.

During the week of June 13, Troop 60 went to Medicine Mountain Scout Ranch in South Dakota for summer camp. Along the way and during the week, they visited the Nebraska National Forest, Wounded Knee, the Badlands, Crazy Horse Monument, Wind Cave, a Mammoth Dig, the Needles in Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore.

The boys spent most of the week doing merit badge classes and some participated in high adventure caving/COPE or trek hiking. The Scouts also participated in a flag lowering ceremony on June 19 at Mount Rushmore. Those participating were Caelan Golledge, Steven Ozaki, Tyler Kendrick, Matt and Andy Dominquez, Will Schrader, Chris Geiss, Nick Maloun, Austin Lemmons, Luke Hinkle and Darren Rawlings. Adult leaders were Dave Ozaki, Chris Golledge, Bob Lemmons, Deb and Richard Rawlings, Carol Stevenson and Janell Schrader.
