Haskell women rally, but fall

? Haskell Indian Nations University almost overcame a 10-point defict with four minutes remaining but fell to Peru State, 84-82, on Friday night in the MCAC women’s basketball tournament.

“We just about ran them down,” HINU coach Phil Homeratha said. “We just could never quite reel them in.”

Justina George scored 31 points to lead the Fightin’ Indians.

Christina Belone added 14 points, and Maria Parker scored 11 points.

George was named MCAC player of the year, and George and Parker were named to the MCAC all-conference first team.

Haskell (20-8) is hoping for an at-large bid in NAIA Div. II tournament next week in Sioux City, Iowa.
