How To Help: Habitat seeks volunteers with communications skills

Lawrence Habitat for Humanity is looking for additional members for its Communications Committee. This committee produces a monthly e-newsletter, writes press releases, works to produce radio announcements and maintains the Lawrence Habitat Web site. If you have skills in journalism, photography, video or the Web, or simply a passion for Habitat’s work, please contact us to get involved. Immediate needs

• The Social Service League is in need of donations and is asking for small kitchen appliances, pots, pans, winter bedding, curtains, small furniture, winter clothing, personal hygiene products, winter socks, knick-knacks and books. If you have any items to donate, please bring them to 905 R.I. (entrance in the alley) during regular business hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday or 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

• Small World Inc. needs volunteers to provide infant care from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Small World is located at 2415 Clinton Parkway, inside First Presbyterian Church. Contact Kathy at 841-3645 for more information about volunteering.

• Family Promise is looking for volunteers to fill two positions. A volunteer is needed to help with light cleaning and organization around the day center. Tasks would include vacuuming the van, organizing cleaning supplies, light yard work, etc. A volunteer with skills in computer technology is also needed to help keep the day center computers in good working condition by updating virus protection and troubleshooting problems.
