This fall, choose plenty of separates for a wardrobe full of trendy, stylish clothing and accessories. But before you do too much shopping, read about the latest fall color-trends and one popular runway style you’ll be sure to love.

Color-coordinated:

Color-coordinating is a strange, lifelong art. For years you are told to match everything, from your blue blouse to your blue sweater, your brown shoes to your brown belt, your gold earrings to your gold wristwatch — and then all of a sudden it changes. Being overly color-coordinated is lame; being “matchy-matchy” is insulting. Well, news bulletin, ladies: color-coordination is back (and yes, of course there’s a twist; this is fashion, after all). Gold is the new neutral:

If all of this color business sounds like nonsense to you, try a different approach. Gold hues are also a huge color trend this fall. The outdoor type:

The opposite of bold, matchy and gold — plenty of natural, neutral colors were sported all over fall runways. One great thing about this trend is that it can be executed more than one way. If you don’t want to look like a Girl Scout on a camping trip, mix your pieces with feminine jewelry and bright eye makeup or lipstick. If you do feel like going all the way, incorporate other outdoorsy accessories, like fur vests and jackets, wool blazers and plenty of plaid accents.
