KU reliever Bochy undergoes Tommy John surgery

Kansas University junior baseball reliever Brett Bochy underwent Tommy John surgery on Friday, KU officials confirmed.

Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery in Pensacola, Fla.

Bochy’s season is over. The recovery from Tommy John surgery is usually anywhere from 10-12 months.

Bochy last appeared in an April 1 game against Texas A&M. KU won, 6-4, and Bochy picked up his fifth save after pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Bochy is 2-0 with an 0.78 earned-run average in 23 innings this season.

KU officials did not report how or when Bochy injured his elbow.
