Five named to KU’s Women’s Hall of Fame

Kansas University’s Women’s Hall of Fame has five new inductees.

The five are:

• Carol Marinovich, the first woman elected mayor of Kansas City, Kan.

• Karen Miller, dean of KU’s schools of allied health and nursing, and senior vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at KU Medical Center.

• Janet Murguia, president and chief executive officer of the National Council of La Raza.

• Mary Murguia, the first Latina to serve as Arizona district judge and recently nominated by President Obama for a vacancy on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

• Judy Locy Wright, assistant vice president of KU Endowment and director of the Chancellor’s Club.

Janet and Mary Murguia, Wright and Marinovich all earned degrees from KU.

KU has inducted outstanding leaders into its Women’s Hall of Fame since 1970. They are honored at a display on the fifth floor of the Kansas Union.
