Ex-KU leader Ambler named to health board

The Lawrence City Commission appointed David Ambler, retired Kansas University vice chancellor for student affairs, to the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department Board on Tuesday night.

The city and Douglas County Commission recently approved the expansion of the board from five to seven members, and added an ex officio member appointed by the KU chancellor.

Ambler was the last person appointed to fill out the available positions.

Other new board members: Amy Biel, Kansas Health Institute; Ray Davis, retired KU professor; Carol Seager, director of KU’s Student Health Services; and Maley Wilkins, community president at Peoples Bank.

Remaining members: Dr. Gerald Pees, Shirley Martin-Smith and Paul Liechti.

The next board meeting is April 19.
