Teen in slaying case won’t be tried as adult

? A Wyandotte County teen accused of killing a man at the urging of a woman won’t face adult charges.

Wyandotte County District Judge Wes Griffin this week ruled that 15-year-old Antwuan Taylor will remain in the juvenile system.

He was 13 when the 21-year-old woman he was staying with gave him a gun and told him to shoot a man she said she had had problems with. Taylor shot 47-year-old Charles McElroy six times in the chest, killing him.

The woman, who has not been charged, later turned him in to police.

Defense attorneys and a psychiatrist argued that Taylor was immature for his age and had been under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Prosecutors, however, said he made the adult decision to kill.
