Kansas City, Kan. ? A Kansas City, Kan., man is facing federal kidnapping and firearms charges after allegedly trying to abduct a woman before her father intervened.

Prosecutors say Jason Frazier, 29, was charged Friday with kidnapping, unlawful possession of a firearm and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

Officials say the victim and her father were driving separate cars Thursday when they became lost while driving from the American Royal to the Marriott Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. They say Frazier offered to help them find the hotel, but led them into Kansas City, Kan.

Prosecutors say the woman’s father thwarted the kidnapping when he backed his car into the front end of Frazier’s vehicle.
