‘Chocolate and Tea’ fundraiser scheduled
The Lawrence Community Shelter will host its ninth annual “Chocolate and Tea at Three” fundraiser Nov. 8.
At the event, the shelter will present Yello Sub owner Donny Keen with the 2009 Huggins Volunteer of the Year Award, for his weekly donations of food for 35 people during the last several years.
The annual event also gives attendees an opportunity to sample a large variety of chocolates donated by Lawrence residents and restaurants.
Chocolate and Tea at Three will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 8 at SpringHill Suites, 1 Riverfront Plaza, Lawrence. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12.
The shelter will use the proceeds to provide services for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
