Funding requested for $100K SLT interchange study

Bottom Line

City commissioners are being asked to contribute about $11,000 for a $100,000 study of the interchange at the South Lawrence Trafficway and Sixth Street, which also is U.S. Highway 40.

Background

KDOT would primarily fund the study to find ways for traffic to flow more smoothly. Traffic increase is anticipated because much of the ground is zoned for commercial development. Douglas County is asked to provide $11,000, and the Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitian Planning Organization is asked to provide $11,000.

• Receive memorandum from the Sustainability Advisory Board concerning soils and land use planning.
