Guilty plea entered in exploitation trial

? An Arma woman has pleaded guilty to financially exploiting a 97-year-old woman who was in the care of her and her husband.

Attorney General Steve Six announced Wednesday that Ernestine Anselmi pleaded guilty Tuesday to one felony count mistreatment of a dependent adult, Lena Zanichelli.

Anselmi was charged in September 2008. Prosecutors allege that she and her husband, Ernest Anselmi, used “undue influence, coercion, deception, and false representation” to make nearly $1 million payments to themselves and others with Zanichelli’s money.

Court documents say the Anselmis were Zanichelli’s “unofficial guardians” since at least May 2008.

Ernest Anselmi died in June. Zanichelli died in late March.
