About 100 people were lined up to get the H1N1 vaccine at 9 a.m. today when the community immunization clinic opened at the Community Health Facility, 200 Maine.
With 13 health professionals administering the vaccine, Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department leaders didn't expect any problems.
By 10 a.m., Lisa Horn, spokeswoman, said there was no line. The clinic lasts until noon.
Horn reminds people that there is parking on the south and north sides of the building.
The priority groups have been reopened to include:
• All people 6 months through 24 years of age.
• Daily care providers and household members of children younger than 6 months of age.
• All pregnant women.
• Health care and emergency services personnel who have direct patient contact.
• Adults ages 25-64 with chronic health conditions.
The Health Department encourages children under 10 who have received their first dose of the H1N1 vaccine, to receive their second booster immunization at the upcoming clinics. A period of one month must have passed, however, between the child’s first and second doses.
Both the nasal mist and injectable vaccines will be available. As part of the national H1N1 vaccine program, vaccine will be provided at no charge.
Anyone wishing to get their vaccine is encouraged to download the consent form from the department's Web site before attending the clinic.

Why would 'they' want you to sign a consent form? Is there 'something' we don't know about the vaccine?

@emptymind - While your screen name seems to say it all, put away the tin foil hat. This is just normal procedure for any kind of shot clinic. I had to sign a form to be able to get the regular flu shot, and have had to every time I got one.

I hope this is a sign that the clinic will be opened to everyone soon!

Begs the question, when is the next clinic? Is the shot available at the County Health department?

starlight-check with your doc. I got my shot yesterdat there. Cost 15.00 but no line. He told me had 150 doses available.

Congrats to the staff who put this together. Everyone was super professional, friendly and highly competent.
I was anticipating a dreary experience and instead was in and out in just a few minutes. My little girl didn't even have time to cry. Great job on the part of the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department. My taxes well spent.

I was there at 10 a.m. this morning and there was a line of about 50 people, but the line moved smoothly and quickly. I was impressed on how organized it was and how professional the whole process was. Good job.

We got there yesterday 5 minutes before the doors opened and there was already a line, but things went quickly and smoothly. I'd say all in all, the whole process lasted less than 45 minutes and I know lines were even shorter when we left. Thank you for the great job! Here's hoping that more successful clinics will be soon offered to the entire public.

Starlight. The next clinic is 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Community Health Facility, 200 Maine. So far, it is for anyone in the priority group. I will let you know if the health department decides to open it up to anyone — through this Web site and Twitter.

Why do you shout down anyone who dare asks questions? It's people like you which make thinking people very suspicious. That and along with removing all liability for harm. Why aren't YOU at least a little bit suspicious?
Anytime someone whether directly or by implication makes it mandatory to do something should not require a "consent". No, these pork flu shots are not mandatory at this time, but many are implying you are not patriotic if you don't get one. And some places are making it mandatory. Some are throwing out all science of genetics, the theory of refuge areas of genetics, and somehow concluding it is the good of society for everyone to be forced to be vaccinated.
Why isn't there an explicit caution in every article for pregnant women to make sure they get a vaccine without mercury? Can pregnant women eat as much fish as they want now?
