Breanna Haller, a senior at Kansas University who is majoring in art, will display her fused glass pieces at the annual Holiday Bazaar, set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Lawrence Community Building, 115 W. 11th St.

For local artist Breanna Haller, Lawrence’s annual Holiday Bazaar will provide a new outlet for her creative craft this year.

Haller, a Kansas University student from Lawrence, makes and sells items made from fused glass, including night lights, magnets and hanging decorations. She got her start working at Potwin Pottery in Topeka, and will have a booth at Sunday’s bazaar for the first time.

“I started doing fused glass a bit ago,” Haller said. “I got really into it and bought a kiln for my apartment.”

Fused glass artwork involves layering different-shaped pieces of colored glass together and fusing them together in a kiln. Haller also works with ceramics, pottery, textiles and metalsmithing.

“I’m very involved in every kind of medium,” Haller said.

The bazaar will bring 130 local and regional exhibitors together at the Lawrence Community Building, 115 W. 11th St., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

“With the economy as bad as it is, it’s a good opportunity for people to pick up neat gifts for reasonable prices,” said Duane Peterson, special event supervisor for the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department.

This marks the 10th year the department has hosted the event, and the ninth that it sold out the exhibition space.
