Private schools choose new leaders

Some new faces will lead two of the private schools in Lawrence.

Veritas Christian School has selected Kelli Huslig as the new administrator to replace Jeff Barclay. Huslig is currently serving as the interim administrator for the school. She’s been working at Veritas since 2007 and has more than 10 years of teaching experience.

Veritas also has hired its first dean of students. Ron Krestan has been a pastor and a teacher. He’s taught at Veritas for the past seven years.

Corpus Christi Catholic School will have a new principal for the new school year. Mary Mattern has served as the vice principal for seven years and has been working in elementary education for 20 years. Mattern says she plans to continue the programs implemented last year for preschool students and full-day kindergartners, along with after-school programs. She is replacing Becky Wright.
