Police searching for man who robbed gas station at gunpoint

The Lawrence Police Department was looking Sunday night for a man wielding a semiautomatic handgun who robbed a convenience store.

Sgt. Mark Warren said the man walked into Presto, 602 W. Ninth St., at 9 p.m. Sunday, threatened the clerk with the handgun and stole an undetermined amount of money.

The man is described as a thin, 6-foot-2 black man in his mid-40s wearing a dark coat with a hood. The clerk could only see the man’s eyes, Warren said.

The clerk was not injured, and no customers were in the store during the robbery, Warren said.
