The Secondary Therapeutic Classroom at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center will celebrate its 20th anniversary from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.

The free celebration will be at the Bert Nash center, 200 Maine, and feature a discussion from the people who wrote the grant for the program followed by an open house of the classrooms.

“The classrooms allow a safe place for the students to work on their emotional issues and academics at the same time,” said Lanell Finneran, one of the program’s two instructors.

The class was designed to help educate junior high and high school students who are experiencing mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. Eighteen students are currently enrolled.
