Haskell to conduct empowerment summit

Haskell Indian Nations University students will be host to the second Indigenous Empowerment Summit April 16-18 at the university.

Tribal, university, community and student leaders will meet during the summit to discuss networking opportunities, cultural preservation and supporting the movements and activism of Indigenous people.

Among the events are roundtable discussions, student presentations, guest speakers, tours of the Haskell campus, concerts, a handgame tournament and a feast. The summit will conclude with a contest powwow and gourd dancing sponsored by the Kiowa Cultural Organization.
