Topeka ? The Kansas House has passed two bills that would impose new restrictions on abortion providers.

Both bills now go to the Senate.

One of the bills passed Wednesday requires doctors to provide state health officials with detailed medical reasons for performing a late-term abortion. Supporters say doctors now simply state the pregnancy could cause “substantial and irreversible” harm to a “major bodily function,” without explaining what risk the woman faces.

The bill also allows regulators to revoke a doctor’s license for violating the abortion law the first time, rather than multiple times.

The other bill requires doctors using ultrasound or monitoring fetal heartbeats to offer women a chance to view the information at least 30 minutes before an abortion.
