Fewer students in Kansas choosing to study abroad

? Some Kansas universities are seeing a drop in the number of students choosing to study abroad this season.

Sue Lorenz, study abroad director at the University of Kansas, says about half the colleges and universities in the country are seeing a similar decline.

Kansas has about 25 fewer students studying abroad than it had last summer.

Kansas State’s study abroad enrollment dropped 28 students, while Washburn recorded 60 fewer students from last year.

Administrators of the programs blame the economy, saying more students are choosing not to spend the money on overseas study.
