Physical therapists attend course

Physical therapists Heather Shire, Nami Stone and Cari Everhart attended the education course “Pregnancy and Postpartum: Clinical Highlights” Feb. 28-29 at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. The course was taught by physical therapist Hollis Herman.

The course was sponsored by the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute in Belmont, Mass. It covered topics related to the benefits of physical therapy during and after pregnancy including musculoskeletal pain, appropriate exercise guidelines, cesarean section and episiotomy complications, and the effects of pregnancy and delivery on the pelvic floor.

Shire, Stone and Everhart are physical therapists with Kreider Rehabilitation Services. Shire and Everhart see patients at Lawrence Memorial Hospital while Stone sees patients at the Kreider Rehabilitation South clinic.
