City firm picked for Manhattan work

The Manhattan-Ogden Unified School District has selected Gould Evans to complete improvements to Manhattan High School West Campus as part of a larger bond issue for a series of improvement projects for the school district.

The Manhattan-Ogden Board of Education voted unanimously to enter into a contract with Gould Evans for complete architectural services from design through construction.

The $35 million project, expected to be completed by the fall of 2013, includes the addition of 14 classrooms, renovation and enlargement of the cafeteria, new classroom furnishings, locker room renovations, and interior painting and wall repairs.

Other improvements include plans to increase the energy efficiency of the building, including window, roof, light fixture, and boiler system replacements, as well as upgrades to the heating/air conditioning system. The school’s intercom system and technology infrastructure will also be improved, and several building code issues will be addressed.
