The Lawrence facility for Kinedyne is the company’s first in the nation to receive an international certification for its quality management.

“It had to be a team effort, or we couldn’t have gotten it done,” said Terry Albin, Kinedyne’s operations manager in Kansas.

The cargo control products manufacturer provides equipment for companies in the transportation and aerospace industries, including the federal government.

The company worked for about 10 months on documenting its procedures and other operations at the Lawrence facility before a third party audited the process, said Pete Miko, Kinedyne’s global quality director.

In the last month, after an executive committee re-viewed the third party’s report, the company learned it received the international certification, known as ISO 9001:2000.

Employees celebrated the honor during an event Thursday afternoon at the facility, 3701 Greenway Circle at the East Hills Business Park. More than 100 people work at the Lawrence facility.

Miko said the certification is good for three years, but it requires the company to participate in another audit in six months.

The certification gives important feedback to certain customers, like Boeing, Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Department of Defense, company officials said.

“It gives our customers a certain level of confidence in the company’s commitment to quality and systems and processes,” Miko said.
