‘Wild Science’ topic is alternative fuel

Efforts on the Kansas University campus are ensuring that all that leftover kitchen cooking oil isn’t going to waste.

As a part of an ongoing series at the KU Natural History Museum, a discussion on alternative fuels will feature Susan Williams, KU Biodiesel Initiative director and associate professor of chemical and petroleum engineering.

She is set to discuss how the oils used in KU kitchens are turned into fuel.

The program begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the museum. Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be served. It is part of a monthly series of talks at the museum called “Wild Science.”

Future programs are set to feature topics like Darwin and evolution and insect biodiversity in Venezuela.
