KU Wild Science series to discuss water safety

Kansas University’s Andrew Short has an interesting way of telling whether water is safe to drink.

The KU research scientist just looks at the bugs.

According to Short’s research, the number and variety of insects in a watershed can determine whether the water has been affected by human activity.

Short will deliver a talk about insects and water quality in Latin America at 7 p.m. Wednesday at KU’s Natural History Museum. The event is free and open to the public.

The event is another installment in the museum’s monthly Wild Science series, occurring on the first Wednesday of every month.
