University Bridge Club announce results of its Jan. 31 meetings. Hosts were Florence McNicoll, Alice Akin, Lois Liebert and Virginia Williams.

Blue winners were Walt Hicks, first; Tom Waller, second; Lois Liebert, third; Marc Kuepker, fourth; and Florence McNicoll, fifth.

Pink winners were Bebe Huxtable, first; Edna Galle, second; Janet Dunn, third; Cora Kuepker, fourth; and Carolyn Harden, fifth.

The Knights of Columbus Council 1372 had a parish breakfast after all morning masses on Jan. 4 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church to recognize the Rev. John Schmeidler’s birthday and raise money for the charitable community organization of his choice. The breakfast netted $500, which was donated to the St. Claire Center, located in St. John’s parish office, which provides various help to those in need within the community.

The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Jan. 28 was directed by Chris Lane. North-South winners were Harry Shaffer and Ed Howard, first in A; Catherine Blumenfeld and Grant Sutton, second in A and first in B; Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier, third in A and second in B; Mona Bell and Charles Hedges, fourth in A and third in B; and Marilyn Martin and Clarice Broz, first in C.

East-West winners were Lois Clark and Mark Osborn, first in A and B; Dick Shaffer and Ann Thompson, second in A and B, and first in C; Arkie Vaughn and Jack Flickinger, third in A and B, and second in C; and Shari Krentzel and Nita Scales, fourth in A.

The Thursday Morning Mentor Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Jan. 29 was individually scored and directed by Chris Lane. Winners were Jean Khatib, first, with a five-way tie for second with Earle Core, Adelaide Hanna, Chris Lane, Pat Lechtenberg and Dick Shaffer.

The Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Jan. 30 was directed by Virginia Seaver. North-South winners Catherine Blumenfeld and Lois Clark tied in first with Lester Dalton and Mary Fenlon; Chris Lane and Virginia Seaver, third in A; Suzanne Wassmer and Wanda Durbin, fourth in A; Florine Creek and Julia Brooks, second in B; Carol Ball and Charles Hedges, third in B; and Bebe Huxtable and Carol Smith, second in C.

East-West winners were Mona Bell and Madelyn Jenks, first in A, B and C; Mark Osborn and Bobby Patton, second in A and B; Don Bush and Grant Sutton tied in third in A and B with Barbara McCorkle and Della Hadley; and Klee Zaricky and Sally Taylor, fifth in A and B.

The Sunday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Feb. 1 was individually scored and was directed by Chris Lane. Eleanor Patton tied in first with Marilyn Martin, Jean Khatib and Ed Howard; and Ann Thompson tied in fifth with Bobby Patton.

The Monday Evening Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Feb. 2 was directed by Virginia Seaver. North-South winners were Julia Dalton and Mary Fenlon, first in A; Patrick Musick and Jolene Andersen, second in A, and first in B and C; Chris Lane and Virginia Seaver, third in A; Lester Dalton and Christopher Kulig, fourth in A and second in B; and Lois Clark and Vince Nordberg, second in C.
