Rainbows United fires president

? A Wichita group that works with special needs children and their families has fired its president.

The nonprofit announced Friday the firing of Lorraine Dold, who was placed on paid administrative leave when the organization was forced into bankruptcy last month. Dold had been with Rainbows United for more than 20 years.

Dold referred questions about her firing to her lawyer, Randy Rathbun, who said Dold was fired after refusing a request by the board to submit her resignation. Rathbun said Dold has done nothing wrong.

Rainbows spokeswoman Michelle Eastman said the organization’s board of directors did not give a reason for Dold’s termination.

At the heart of the bankruptcy is more than $2.3 million in federal withholding taxes that were not paid over a two-year period.
