Immediate needs

• The Spencer Art Museum has commissioned North Carolina-based sculptor Patrick Dougherty to create a new work near Kansas University’s Spooner Hall during the month of May.

The artist will use locally harvested saplings as material for his sculpture, and volunteers are needed to help with the harvest May 4-6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. A limited number of volunteers will be accepted, and no experience is necessary.

For more information, contact Matt Burke, assistant professor of sculpture, at mburke01@ku.edu

• Independence Inc. is seeking committed board members to serve a three-year term. The board meets the second Monday of every month at 5:15 p.m. Contact Tanya Dorf Brunner at 841-0333 if you are interested. Individuals with disabilities are welcome.
