Candidate forum is Monday at Free State

Candidates for the Kansas House and the Kansas State Board of Education will be featured Monday in a forum organized by the local Voter Education Coalition.

The forum, which will begin at 7 p.m. in the Free State High School Auditorium, is open to the public.

The forum will begin with questions for candidates for two contested seats in the Kansas House: Democrat Tony Brown and Republican John Coen in the 10th District and Republican Tom Sloan and Democrat John Wilson in the 45th District.

At 8 p.m. the forum will focus on two candidates for the 4th District seat on the Kansas State Board of Education: Democrat Carolyn Campbell and Republican Robert Meissner.

Audience members will have an opportunity to submit questions for candidates during each segment of the forum.

The forum will be broadcast on Sunflower Channel 6 at 7 p.m. Tuesday, 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 p.m. Oct. 30.

The Voter Education Coalition is a nonpartisan partnership of 18 local groups interested in promoting voter participation and civic dialogue.
