Mat Award: Hunter Haralson, an eighth grader at South Junior High, earned an America Crown Award after winning at 105 pounds in wrestling tournaments in Atlanta, Kansas City and Loveland, Colo. He also won at a tourney in Colorado Springs.

¢Anderson Wins: Chris Anderson fired a three-over 75 and won the weekly Jayhawk Golf Club tournament Sunday at Alvamar. Conrad Roberts and Mark Terranova shared second place, each with a 76. In net scoring, Van Reichert and Bill Hamilton shot 74s while Bud Stagg had a 75. In the final overall standings, Jack Schwartz won with 170 points, followed by Roberts 160, Terranova 154, Anderson 150 and Reichert 147.

¢Hilding Qualifies: D.J. Hilding of Lawrence finished second in the men’s ages 25-29 age group and 10th overall at the Kansas City Marathon. His time of 2:45:11 qualified him for the Boston Marathon.
