Simultaneous coffee break sets record

The World Fair Trade Day Coffee Break 2008 on May 10 set the record for the largest simultaneous coffee break with 12,128 people participating at more than 150 events around the United States and Canada.

At least 5,000 people were needed to meet the record. The event was started by the Fair Trade Resource Network. The purpose of the coffee break was to educate people about purchasing fair trade products.

In Lawrence, about 25 people met at the Watson Park gazebo.
