Second candidate files for commission seat

David L. Brown, a Republican from rural Baldwin City, has filed for the 2nd District seat on the Douglas County Commission.

Brown, 51, seeks the seat currently held by Bob Johnson, who is not running for re-election.

Brown recently retired after 32 years with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. He said he feels like he has more to give the community and does not have any particular concerns regarding the county.

“I don’t have any agenda that I am trying to see anything through or keep anything from going through,” Brown said. “I know a lot of people in the county, and I feel like I can represent them well.”

Brown is the second candidate to file for a commission seat. Clenece Hills, of Lawrence, filed earlier this week for the 3rd District position.
