K-State’s Cardwell Hall to reopen today

? Classes at Kansas State University’s Cardwell Hall will be back in session today after repairs caused by a June 11 tornado were completed.

Safety officials on Thursday gave permission to reopen the building after air quality tests were performed.

Cardwell Hall was closed Tuesday for testing after workers replaced parts of the heating, ventilating and air-conditioning system.

The university gave early estimates of $27 million in damage from the tornado. But officials expect that figure to grow.
