Raiders sweep Capitals, 7-1 and 13-3 in Topeka

? Lawrence’s Raiders swept the Topeka Capitals, 7-1 and 13-3, in a baseball doubleheader on Tuesday.

Topeka managed just six total hits in the two games. The Raiders were led by Aaron Rea, who was 6-for-8 on the day with two triples and two doubles. Alex Hardman homered in the opener and Clint Pinnick in the second game.

Caleb Gress and Lance Lamborn were the winning pitchers.

“We executed offensively. When we score a lot of runs, we set the table and get those runners home,” Raiders coach Shaun Edmondson said. “We struck early in both games and applied pressure throughout. Our pitching was good. To allow six hits in 14 innings and just a couple walks, is impressive.

“We’ve won four in a row. We’re out of our funk, moving onto part two of the season.”

The Raiders, 13-6, will meet Hutchinson at 9 a.m. and the Kansas City Hornets at 11 a.m. Thursday at the eight-team Hutchinson Tournament.
