Grant helps build room for family visitations

TFI Family Services, which provides a safe environment for children during supervised visits, is using a grant from the Kansas Health Foundation to add a new room to the Douglas County Visitation and Exchange Center, 910 W. 24th St.

The $1,127 grant will be used to transform the center’s intake room into a visitation room, allowing TFI Family Services to accommodate up to 20 more visits per week while shortening its waiting list.

The grant was received in early June, and senior visitation facilitator Beth McKenize said she expected the work to be completed within the next month.

The new visitation room gives families and children the opportunity to spend more time with each other, with more options for activities and games.

TFI Family Services is the contracting agency for Foster Care and Reintegration Services in Region One of Kansas.
