KU Hospital touted for helping community

Kansas University Hospital led Kansas City area hospitals in benefiting the community, according to a new report.

The survey – released by the Missouri Hospital Association – found that KU Hospital provided a community investment of $85 million, up 16 percent from $73 million in last year’s report. In the 2007 report, the hospital also ranked No. 1 among area hospitals.

The survey included such areas as charity care, patient bad debt, unpaid costs from Medicare and Medicaid, community donations and health professional education.
