Now it’s just time to find 30 or so cyclists to help keep 1,500 triathletes hydrated and on course June 15 for the Ironman 70.3 Kansas.

“It’s going to look like a kayak convention out there,” said Ryan Robinson, co-event director. “We’ve had a huge response for volunteers. The swim is covered. The run is covered by the great people at Red Dog’s Dog Days.

“Now we’re needing people for the bike course.”

Anyone interested in volunteering to help out for the Ironman event – whether during expo events Friday and Saturday, or during the race itself Sunday – is asked to e-mail volunteers@ironmankansas.com.

Volunteers receive a T-shirt, plus a chance to be involved in the first Ironman in Kansas. All volunteers will get a complimentary lunch, and those from the bike course will be able to see the finish at Bloomington Beach.

The volunteer roster won’t be limited by age, athletic ability or anything else.

“It’s all comers,” said Robinson, who already has more than 200 volunteers lined up. “We can find a job for anybody.”
