Officials reported that the cost of a year at college would be up an average of 10 percent the coming fall semester. The most expensive school was to be Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a tab of more than $15,000. A Kansas University spokesman said a student could get by on a little more than a third of that amount here and “get a marvelous education, one of the best bargains, by far, in America.”
