Club news

Over the Rainbow Doll Club met July 10 at the home of Brenda Owens. The program was “Hats.” Several different styles were exhibited. Each member received a packet of hat patterns and a hat for their doll. The open meeting will be Sept. 9 at the Lawrence Public Library. Debbie Tracy will be a guest presenter. Next month’s meeting will be Aug. 14 at the home of Jan Dyer.

University Bridge Club announces results of its July 12 meeting. Hosts were Janet Dunn and Donna Gatts. Blue winners Darlene Schneider, first; John Golden, second; Ray Ikenberry, third; Tom Waller, fourth; and Marc Kuepker, fifth. Pink winners were Lois Liebert, first; Willie Stoltenberg, second; Myrna Ikenberry, third; Dottie Miller, fourth; and Florence McNicoll, fifth.

The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on July 9 was directed by Chris Lane. The North-South players were led by Harry Shaffer and Jeane Landry, with Bobby Patton and John Fittell placing second. Craig Huneke and Hailong Dao were third and Pat Lechtenberg and Chris Lane placed fourth.

The East-West players were led by Bebe Huxtable and Wanna Roszel, with Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier placing second. Shirley Reese and Virginia Seaver were third with Ann Thompson and Jolene Andersen placing fourth.

The Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on July 11 utilized the Howell movement and was directed by Virginia Seaver. David Piro and Paul Heitzman placed first and Carol Ball and Chris Lane were second. Chuck Hedges and Virginia Seaver placed third and Lynn Hui and Catherine Blumenfeld were fourth. Harry Shaffer and Grant Sutton placed fifth and Yvonne Hedges and Shirley Reese were sixth.

The Sunday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on July 13 utilized the Howell movement and was directed by Chris Lane. Pat Lechtenberg and Mary Cornwell tied in first place with Virginia Seaver and Becky Mullins. Jean Khalib and Marilyn Martin were third and Ann Thompson and Brian Barrett placed fourth. Chris Lane and Nancy Obrien were fifth.

The Monday Evening Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on July 14 was directed by Virginia Seaver. The North-South players were led by Harry Shaffer and Grant Sutton, with David Leitch and Steve Vossler placing second. Fred Lambert and Paul Heitzman were third and Eldon Herd and Jean Otney were fifth.

The East-West players were led by David Piro and Brian Barrett, with Craig Huneke and Lois Clark placing second. Pat Musick and Jolene Andersen were third and Carl Mibeck and Jack Mibeck placed fourth.
